Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding Between Widam Food Company and the Qatar Livestock Association (Anaam) to Market Local Sheep Production

Widam Food Company (Q.P.S.C.), theleading company in the meat and livestock sector and the principal operator ofAl Wakrah Central Abattoir and the country's private abattoirs, has signed a Memorandumof Understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Livestock Association (Anaam)at the company's headquarters in Al Shumoukh Towers, Doha.
The MoU was signed on behalf of WidamFood Company by Mr. Ayed Menahi Al Qahtani, Chief Executive Officer, andon behalf of the Qatar Livestock Association (Anaam) by Mr. Mubarak RashidAl Suhaiti, Chairman of the Association.
The MoU aims to market the livestockof local breeders in Qatar by offering their sheep through Widam's livestocklocations at Al Wakrah Central Slaughterhouse, Umm Salal Central Market, AlShahaniya Central slaughterhouse, and Abu Nakhla Livestock Sales Yard, inaddition to making these products available year-round through the company'sMobile APP.
Under the agreement, the Associationwill coordinate and communicate with local livestock breeders to supply sheepthat meet the required specifications and weight standards, focusing onproducts that are in high demand among consumers.
The MoU also includes cooperation tostudy requests for the purchase of productive female sheep breeds, enablingtheir supply and sale to local breeders in coordination with the Association.This initiative aims to contribute to improving the quality and productivity ofQatar's livestock herd.
It is worth noting that locallivestock production plays a vital role in meeting the country's demand for redmeat, particularly during national initiatives launched by the Ministry ofCommerce and Industry in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality. Overthe past 16 years, these initiatives have significantly enhanced productionefficiency and contributed to strengthening Qatar's food security.
The Qatar Livestock Association(Anaam) is dedicated to supporting Qatar's livestock sector and its breeders.Among its primary objectives are improving the efficiency of local livestockproduction and serving as a link between livestock breeders and the relevantgovernment authorities
